THREE-YEAR DEGREE - THESIS ASSIGNMENT
At least 3 MONTHS before the THREE-YEAR degree session, and with a maximum of 2 exams still to be taken, send the THESIS ASSIGNMENT REQUEST form to the email address
How to fill in the thesis assignment form:
In the first part of the form, students must provide their personal details and indicate their choice of supervisor.
In the second part, students must indicate the subject and title (topic) of their thesis; tick the box if the title has changed; indicate the co-supervisor, if applicable.
The third part must be completed in the event of withdrawal or change of supervisor.
The fourth part is completed by the Degree Sub-Committee.
The clearance form must also be sent together with the Thesis Assignment form.
In the case of theses that require attendance at laboratories, it is mandatory to undergo information, training, and instruction at the RADRL of the identified laboratory and to fill in the relevant clearance form countersigned by the RADRL, the thesis supervisor, and the student.
For theses involving fieldwork or data processing, points 1 and 3 must be completed; the clearance form must be countersigned by the thesis supervisor and the student.
The thesis assignment request form and the clearance form must be sent by email to

MASTER'S DEGREE IN GEOSCIENCES

Degree examination procedures
REGULATIONS FOR THE THREE-YEAR DEGREE EXAM
Starting from the JANUARY 2018 graduation session (CCS Sc. Geol. Resolution of June 2017)
The thesis (3 CFU) must be completed in a total of 75 hours, within a maximum period of 2-3 months.
The thesis must focus on the analysis of a general topic, based also on the extension of extra-mural or intra-mural internship activities, and must always include a general geological contextualization of the area of study or the topic covered.
The thesis may be a maximum of 30 pages long (font size 12, line spacing 1.5, including bibliography and figures) .

Procedure
The final exam for the Bachelor's Degree in Geological Sciences consists of the discussion of the thesis in the presence of a specially appointed committee, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 7 of Article 29 of the University Teaching Regulations. During the interview, candidates may use graphic aids in the form of individual printouts, posters, or images on tablets, but independent audiovisual presentations are not permitted.
The assessment will take into account:
- the quality of the written thesis,
- the candidate's answers to the Commission's questions on the specific topic, but also their general knowledge related to the topic of the thesis, the assessment of which must be recorded on the paper form.
Calculation of the final grade
A maximum of 8 points will be added to the weighted average of the candidate's academic career, calculated by the Student Secretariat, as follows:
a. a maximum of 3 points for regularity of studies, broken down as follows:
3 points for studies on track
2 points for the first year behind schedule
1 point for the second year behind schedule
0 points from the third year behind schedule onwards
b. a maximum of 5 points for the Commission's assessment of the exam
If the total is not less than 110, the Commission may, by unanimous decision, award the student the distinction of cum laude.
TIMETABLE
- From the 1st to the 15th of the month preceding the THREE-YEAR degree session, submit the DEGREE APPLICATION accompanied by a €16 revenue stamp to the Science Student Secretariat, located in the “centri comuni” building in the Monte Sant'Angelo university complex.
- By the end of the month preceding the THREE-YEAR degree session, send the GRADUATION EXAM RESERVATION form in .doc or .docx format to the email address
- In the 15 days prior to the graduation session, the Science Student Secretariat (Centri Comuni Monte S. Angelo) will summon the graduating students for administrative checks and to deliver their files.
- At least 10 days before the THREE-YEAR degree session, deposit a copy of the thesis on CD in the CCD mailbox on the ground floor of the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resource Sciences (DiSTAR) of the Monte Sant'angelo Complex, or send the PDF version to the email address
- Five days before the THREE-YEAR degree session, email the abstract of the thesis to the members and alternates of the Degree Committee.
