DISTAR - PhD positions turbidity currents Utrecht University

The Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht University is looking for two highly motivated PhD candidates with an MSc background in Earth Sciences, Civil or Hydraulic Engineering, Oceanography, or other appropriate fields. They will work on the ERC-funded project: DEEP-FLUX: Journey of low-density particles to the DEEP ocean floor – terrestrial organic carbon and microplastics FLUX through submarine canyons.

One of the open positions has a focus on experiments on mixing in turbidity currents, and experimental tests of turbulent diffusion characteristics of microplastics and POC:
