Lava sequences     
In the context of analysis of the TRM (Thermal Remanent Magnetization) of lava a procedure, more rigorous than other used in similar studies, has developed. In particular it consists in: (1) complete demagnetization of each oriented sample; (2) definition of the primary component of the magnetization of each sample by analysis of linearity with MAD (Maximum Angular deviation) very small; (3) rejection of samples whose magnetization component does not meet the previous point; (4) the need to take a high number of samples per site given that the rejection of samples, see point (3), is not infrequent.
This procedure, initially applied to Vesuvian lava flows, was subsequently extended to Etna and Ischia lavas emplaced during the last 1000 years, which, according to the strict protocol investigated mentioned earlier, show how all medium magnetization directions of each lava flow, regardless of volcanic building they derive from, when referred to a same location geography, rilocalizzandole by VGP (Virtual Gemagnetic Pole), they align along  the same SVC (secular variations curve ), allowing, therefore, to have a reliable SVC for Southern Italy.
The investigation focused also on geographical rilocation of magnetization directions, addressed, even within the three-year project AARCH (Archaeomagnetic Applications for the Rescue of Cultural Heritage) funded by the EU.
